It’s not. They’ll try again.

Like millions of people all over the world, I watched in horror, sadness, and disgust as the United States Capitol building was taken over by insurrectionists goaded on by the President of the United States. For the first time since the War of 1812 Capitol Hill was captured, not by a foreign enemy, but by domestic terrorists. For the first time since the Civil War, the confederate flag, a symbol of racism, hate, and insurrection was present in the Capitol, where the bodies of patriots like John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, John McCain, and John Lewis have lain in state.

For hours Trump’s militia roamed, ransacked, and even urinated and defecated in the halls of the people’s Capitol, without opposition. While this was happening, Donald Trump and his family and most ardent supporters watched gleefully from the confines of a secure bunker in the White House. This is what Trump wanted. …

I’m writing about Medium

I don’t believe it, but here I am writing about Medium again. When checking my stats I have, like many writers here, noticed a drastic drop in views. That is except for the articles I have written about Medium.

I am so sick of sitting down and writing my fat little heart out about something that I have a very strong passion for or sharing a story of my beautiful beloved dogs only to have it treated like a piece of shit along the Medium path to irrelevance. My stories about Medium, like every other story written on Medium about Medium, are just a rehash of the same old shit. These articles must catch the eye of all of the newbies here hoping and praying to become the next great Charles Dickens or Ernest Hemingway. …

Merry Christmas to all of our dad’s Medium friends.

Well, finally our wait was over. We woke up this morning, Christmas morning, to find out Santa Claus had been to our house during the night. Our dads opened their presents first and then it was our turn. Here are some of the photos my dad, Kevin took. I hope you had as much fun as we did.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or whatever you want to hear!

Christmas is only a couple of days away and for some reason, I feel obligated to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, even if I don’t really know them. I have already sent my Christmas salutations to my family and close friends, so now I must do the same for my followers and anyone else who cares to receive my wishes.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not being a scrooge, but I always feel the same way during the holiday season. Christmas is a special time, with all of the decorations and holiday trappings surrounding almost every aspect of our lives. Holiday movies and television shows offer a variety of entertainment venues that tug at our hearts and emphasize “peace on earth and goodwill to men”. We are encouraged to be charitable to those of us who are less fortunate. Warm and loving feelings and gestures abound. And then it’s all over! …

But without proper treatment, it may still kill us.

For four years our nation has been infected by a potentially fatal form of cancer, caused by Donald Trump and spread by his cult-like followers. He may not have directly caused the disease, but he has caused the racism and hate that has been festering in the shadows of our country for years, waiting to infect our society. With his election, he began to destroy the immune system, the safeguards of our democracy, by allowing white supremacists, racists, and the most deplorable reprobates of our society to gain not only a voice but a movement. …

But I see a Silver Lining

The year 2020 has mainly been overshadowed by the Covid-19 pandemic and most people have trouble finding any bright spots. I, for one, however, have found a few positives amongst all of the negativity.

Probably the most obvious change in our lives that was a result of the Coronavirus was wearing a face mask. After living for many years in Asia, where wearing a mask to protect yourself and others from colds and the flu is quite common, wearing a mask was no big deal. …

I’ve been cheated my whole life.

Okay, it’s almost the end of 2020 and I’m really pissed. I’ve been cheated all my life and I’m not going to take it anymore! I’ve had it and I’m going to do something about everyone who has cheated me out of what is rightfully mine.

First of all, I’m going to retroactively sue my parents for not leaving me an inheritance of millions of dollars. How is one to survive on anything less? I’ll get a good lawyer. Maybe Rudy can take up my case. Then I am going to sue God and the hospital where I was born for allowing me to be born with asthma and allergies. …

It works for me, Most of the time.

Unlike many of my friends on Medium, I have never taken a course in writing during my college years. I took all of the English classes that were required for my area of study. When I published articles for Pathology journals I wrote them and had someone in the pathology department, whose specialty was medical writing, edit the articles for me. Thank God!

Now that I am writing more, especially out of my area of expertise, I can see that I can make some really asinine mistakes in grammar. I can read an article over and over again and not see glaring mistakes that I’ve made. Since English is not my husband’s native tongue I don’t ask him to edit my writing. At times my friend, Sherry McGuinn, a professional editor, has pointed out mistakes I have made when submitting work for her publications. …

This is the man who refuses to help you!

As much as I hate Donald Trump I hate Mitch McConnell more. As the House Majority Leader, he has been Trump’s chief enabler. He has allowed Trump to run roughshod over the Constitution and our democracy. He could have stopped all of the crimes, corruption, and destruction caused by the Trump administration, but he didn’t. He has let Trump defy the rule of law, destroy our alliances, and carry out racist policies on immigration and programs affecting many of our own citizens. As Trump attacked Blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, Native Americans, Gold Star families, the military, and our Constitution, he has said nothing. …

But the slovenly psychopath in the Oval Office is still ranting

On November 3, the American people spoke by electing Joe Biden President-Elect. In September Trump told a rally crowd, “if I lose to Biden you’ll never hear from me again”. What the hell happened! It’s been almost a month and Trump lost, but he’s still running off at the mouth.

He has refused to concede and he and his followers have dished out a steady stream of false statements and conspiracy theories. He has spent millions of dollars, of which he doesn’t have, initiating frivolous lawsuits that have summarily been thrown out of court. His lawyer, once the respected mayor of New York City, has made a complete ass of himself in calling the election a fraud. …
